Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy construction equipment and diesel-powered machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with hydraulic and electrical systems, and a commitment to safety and quality work.

Responsibilities

​

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical components in heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, etc.).

  • Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and safety checks to ensure equipment is operating properly and safely.

  • Read and interpret diagnostic codes, equipment manuals, and work orders.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent.

  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and communicate necessary repairs or parts replacements.

  • Operate diagnostic equipment and tools to assess equipment condition and performance.

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics preferred.

  • Minimum [3–5] years of experience working on heavy equipment or diesel engines.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.

  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.

  • Own a set of tools appropriate for the trade.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Physical ability to lift heavy parts and tools, work in various weather conditions, and stand or kneel for extended periods

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
