Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy construction equipment and diesel-powered machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with hydraulic and electrical systems, and a commitment to safety and quality work.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical components in heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, etc.).

Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and safety checks to ensure equipment is operating properly and safely.

Read and interpret diagnostic codes, equipment manuals, and work orders.

Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent.

Troubleshoot malfunctions and communicate necessary repairs or parts replacements.

Operate diagnostic equipment and tools to assess equipment condition and performance.

Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics preferred.

Minimum [3–5] years of experience working on heavy equipment or diesel engines.

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.

Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.

Own a set of tools appropriate for the trade.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical ability to lift heavy parts and tools, work in various weather conditions, and stand or kneel for extended periods
